Can all bikes be converted with a Bafang BBS motor?

Not every bicycle, whether it's an MTB, trekking or fat bike, can be equipped with a suitable Bafang bottom bracket motor. Installation depends on various factors, such as the frame structure, which is different for every bicycle. Therefore, determining the appropriate motor without precise knowledge can be difficult.

The answer to the question of whether every bicycle can be retrofitted with a BBS mid-drive motor is clearly NO. Different measurements must be considered during the conversion, such as the width, inner and outer diameter of the bottom bracket housing, the transmission, the chainline, the rim or tire, as well as the hub or spokes.

Is only the bottom bracket width crucial for choosing the motor?
The bottom bracket width determines the motor axle length. However, it is not always the only requirement for installation. In some cases, the motor may not fit due to the bottom bracket circumference being too thick, an unsuitable frame geometry, or other factors. After installation, the motor may end up pointing steeply downwards on some bikes, limiting ground clearance and potentially causing damage. Get advice on the right equipment before purchasing and simply contact our support for assistance.


Can you get spare parts and high-quality accessories?
In addition to trading Bafang mid-drive motors for many years, we have supported well-known suppliers of spare parts since our founding. Therefore, we have taken over representations of Gearsensor, Lekkie, Eggrider, etc. Our warehouse includes all the important original Bafang mid-drive motor spare parts and high-quality accessories.

Why is a Bafang motor only perfect with a high-quality battery?
The motor's performance depends on the voltage output. The 18650 cells should come from a reputable manufacturer (AAA & 10A) to withstand the requirements. Cheap no-name battery cells are insufficient, and the chemistry is usually not worth the money spent. Charging and discharging voltage control and safety are important. The maximum discharge voltage, the continuous discharge voltage in amps, and the secured deep discharge voltage in volts are crucial. No name products are dangerous. Battery construction is not a DIY project and should be left to professionals.
